Boxing Day 2024: Maximising Owned Channels Through a Targeted Flash Sale

the challenge.

With international shipping cut-offs in early December, Sassy Saints faced a shorter-than-ideal window for Christmas gifting campaigns. Knowing this was the case, we needed to lean hard into UK shopping behaviour over the "Boxing Week" period instead.

The challenge became how to make the most of that post-Christmas mindset, by driving revenue in a tight window, without relying on paid spend.

my role.

As Marketing Manager, I led the strategy and execution of a short, sharp festive campaign focused entirely on owned channel performance. Working closely with senior leadership and the ops team, I planned a 48-hour flash sale designed to drive urgency, capitalise on seasonal momentum, and re-engage our loyal customer base.

the concept.

We offered a limited-time 20% off site-wide promotion, exclusive to our existing email and social audiences. To protect contribution and measure the strength of our owned activity, we kept the discount code off paid media; instead, building out a tight campaign delivered entirely through organic channels and across the website.

The messaging leaned into self-gifting and post-Christmas reset behaviours, while the 48-hour window helped to drive urgency.

the results.

The campaign significantly outperformed expectations, generating strong results, both engagement and revenue-wise.

It was a powerful reminder of just how impactful well-timed, channel-specific campaigns can be when they’re built around audience behaviour and data-driven planning.
